Philadelphia, Pa. (April 26, 2011) – , “The first thing we can do to improve our economy and our environment at the same time -- and can actually produce a lot of jobs -- is to make everything we do more efficient”, said President Obama, speaking to employees of Gamesa in Fairless Hills, PA. He added, “The government will provide incentives to businesses and homeowners to make businesses or homes more energy efficient”.  President Obama continued to state that the investment in energy efficiency “will pay for itself, because your electricity bills will go down.” The President was addressing an employee gathering at Gamesa’s PA site, where the company manufactures blades for large wind turbines.

Gamesa not only manufactures products for the clean energy industry, they also do this in an efficient manner. Recently the company decided to retrofit their warehouse, bulk storage facility and the manufacturing area in its Fairless Hills and Evansburg sites. Gamesa hired National Energy Solutions, Inc. (NESI), an energy management company that provides design, sales and installation of various energy saving products for commercial and industrial buildings and grounds, to look at the facility’s energy footprint and select the optimal energy savings solutions while identifying applicable rebates and federal tax reductions. Gamesa’s facilities were utilizing metal halide fixtures that were mounted 55 feet high. NESI, was able to obtain maximum financial and environmental savings by choosing LumenOptix’s energy efficient lighting solutions. By retrofitting the facilities, Gamesa reduced their energy usage by 2 million kilowatt hours per year, while increasing its lighting levels from 30 footcandles to 42 footcandles. Gamesa experienced an energy savings of 67% and reduced its carbon footprint by 1,200 carbon tons per year or the equivalent of taking about 200 cars off the road.
